Burnt bridges

Since I haven't posted in a while, I figured I'd post several items tonight.

This last post is something that I've thought about a lot lately. You always hear, especially if you are in the communication industry, that you should never burn bridges. Outside of business relationships this is also true.

I've realized that there are some things that I've done in the past few years that at the time may have sounded like good ideas, but the repercussions aren't so great. There are several friends who I've 'burned' in various ways in the past and as a result my friendship with them has taken a drastic change. Some of them I've lost the entire friendship with, while others have just become distant friends. And both of these are hurtful. I've lost/diminished the friendship I had with some really close friends because of different things I've done to them. For me, who distinguishes between friends and acquaintances, this is a major issue. It just goes to show that every decision I make will have many consequences down the road, some intended and some unintended.

Maybe in a few years my current view will be wrong.

Reminiscing...
